The Fast Food Restaurant Menu & Prices

Fast Food Restaurant

A Fast Food Restaurant is a quick service restaurant. They are a specific type of restaurant and well known for fast food and minimal table service. The food served in these restaurants is very often offered from a limited menu, and typically cooked and prepared in advance, kept hot and when an order is placed, it is then ready to be served. If the food is to be taken away or purchased via a drive-thru, it will be packaged.

These restaurants are very often part of a restaurant chain, and the provisions they use are standardized ingredients and sometimes partially prepared food will be supplied to them through controlled channels. The first one most likely originated in the United States. Another variation of this is a catering van or truck, which has the advantage of mobility, also believed to have been established first in the United States.

At the time of writing this article there are around 58 popular restaurants, and totaled together they offer almost 3000 menu items, and the number is still rising. Here is a short list of some of the more popular fast food restaurant chains, note this is also worldwide.

  1. McDonalds and their menu prices…
  2. Wendy’s – Look for crew member positions if interested in employment
  3. Taco Bell Menu
  4. Arby’s
  5. Shake Shack
  6. Burger King
  7. Little Caesar’s
  8. Checkers
  9. Kentucky Fried Chicken
  10. Popeye’s Fried Chicken

These restaurants are generally located in towns, cities, along major roadways, leisure parks and other easy to get to locations. Many of these restaurants provide drive through facilities. A drive through facility enables customers to place an order and then pick it up at the customer service bay without leaving their vehicle.

Some of these restaurants provide dining areas where food can be ordered and eaten on the premises, and a few will even take orders by phone and deliver the food to the required address. Many pizza restaurants provide this delivery service at no extra cost to the customer, however a minimum order must be adhered to. Fast food is any food that is quick, convenient and usually inexpensive. Fast food can be bought just about anywhere that sells food and snacks.

Vending machines, drive through restaurants and 24hr convenience shops are the most common places to obtain fast food. Fast food is generally cheaper because it is made with cheaper ingredients such as, refined grains, added sugar and high fat meat. Today most fast food chains are responding to customers comments by changing their menus to more healthy alternatives, and these can include more fruits and vegetables, and reducing the amount of fat, salt and added sugar on many of their menu items. Many of these above listed restaurants have made moves in this direction, to keep the consumer and their health happy.

Who Has The Better Fast Food?

Well, the fast food industry has been abuzz as of late. Burger King’s stock has taken back the crown as the number one fast food giant after enacting some policy changes aimed at it’s rival McDonald’s. Meanwhile, Wendy’s has been progressively upgrading their own fast food chains, year by year. Adding more pressure on the 2 burger joints menus (McDonalds menu and the Burger King menu) both of which have dominated for so long.

Domestic sales for McDonald’s have seen better days

Ever since the Burger King menu began it’s one-on-one card game with the addition of Satisfries to the menu last September, Burger King has been stealing some of the steam from McDonald’s menu and sales. The news of Heinz no longer serving McDonald’s is also a reflection of more trouble for McDonald’s, although granted most people won’t even notice the difference in the ketchup.

One problem that is being addressed by McDonald’s is their outrageous number of items on their menu. At one point they had up to 145 different menu choices. Something Gordan Ramsey is often seen scowling about on his show Kitchen Nightmares. McDonald’s will be morphing their Dollar Menu to the Dollar Menu and beyond, which merges some of the excess to a more simplistic menu selection.

Where’s Wendy’s in the mix?

Wendy’s has been capturing a lot more attention with their more modernized look in both their commercial advertising campaigns and the older restaurant infrastructure, one thing on the rise is the Internet hotspot in most of their restaurants. This strategy has been paying off for them, beating earning estimates last year by 33%. The new Wendy’s menu items like the Pretzel Bacon Cheeseburger, for example, has grown a liking by fast food critics and consumers alike.

So, Who’s got the better burger?

Financial success and prevalence of the top fast food players is nice and all, but what really matters is what’s on the menu, and great taste right? Everyone has their very own favorites and their preferences for how their food is prepared, but I’d like to take the time to do a quick comparison of the big 3 of the fast food items.

I think Wendy’s menu gives the best bang for the buck. You just can’t beat the dollar double stack. Great beef and overall size of the burger. I don’t think they have the best fries, though, but their other side menu offerings make up for that, everyone has their favorites, I usually switch between their fries, chili, or sometimes both.

Burger King’s flame broiled burgers are undeniably great tasting. But, to me, the best offerings of Burger King’s menu are their fries and fish sandwich. McDonald’s fails in both of these departments. Burger King’s menu selection is probably the weakest overall, but their burgers are consistently good.

McDonald’s menu hasn’t really been known for high quality in quite some time. Their fries are impervious to the outside elements, but they are some of the driest things you can eat on this planet lol Same really goes for their burgers, even the coveted Big Mac is mostly bun with weak sauce distribution. McDonald’s does have a decent breakfast menu selection, though.

Whats New With McDonald’s Menu Prices?

For years fast food prices have been slowly climbing. The McDonalds menu prices are as affordable today, as they were when things began to take the upward spiral. Then the recession struck in or around 2007 and one of the first restaurants to extend a hand to the community was McDonalds. No surprise there. For years there has just not been enough money in most homes to afford eating out more than perhaps once a week. This is what makes the McDonalds menu prices an affordable option for many families. Seen mostly as a treat to most, you cannot argue with the fact that some of their items are amongst the best on the market.

McDonalds Menu Fries

Take the McDonalds french fries. For years upon years these fries have been the top class of all fast food, and even throw in a few sit down restaurants as well. Their blend of fries has companies like Burger King struggling to find some french fry on the market to compete with McDonalds. Again they are changing the way they make them with the new Burger King menu item “Satis-fries”. This is the second time in the last 5 years that Burger King tries their hand at beating the McDonalds menu french fries. Less calories, best flavor, not too close though.

Burgers and chicken sandwich everything with Mc in front of it. Made with great taste and cheap affordable prices. Many people do not want to associate food with cheap, but cheap in price does not have to mean cheap in quality. The McDonalds menu offers good food at affordable prices, and this is something that has not changed from the time I tasted my first Big Mac.

Prices are still a bargain on many of the weekdays around here. Monday’s see the chicken McNuggest on sale. Tuesday many of the McDonalds restaurants offer parents relief with the happy meals, I have seen them for as low as $1.99. Wednesday and Sunday hamburgers and cheeseburgers are available at mouth watering low prices. $0.59 and $0.69 respectively.
